Scrapbooking - A creative pastime
Feel like doing something creative, and getting a beautiful decorative detail for your home out of it? Then look no further than our new Coffee Table Photo Albums from KAILA. Perfect for scrapbooking!
KAILA Coffee Table Photo Albums are clothbound photo albums designed like luxury boxes. When you open the albums, you're met by a ring-binder with 30 black sheets (60 pages) measuring 21x28 cm. This means that each page has more than enough space for two photos in the common size 11x15 cm – or, indeed, smaller photos and other decorations. You can choose yourself what you want to stick in to these photo albums, giving you lots of space for creativity and creating your own scrapbook!
What is scrapbooking?
But hang on, what is a scrapbook? Scrapbooking refers to when, instead of just putting photos in a photo album, you let your creativity flow and stick in lots of other things too. For example, you could include small things like stickers and mementos, and maybe also write something in a nice colour with an album pen? Even better – you can cut and stick your pictures! With a scrapbook, you've got a fun way to immortalise your very best memories!
But it's not all about the result – the process is fun too. It's so relaxing to sit down with a cup of tea, light a candle and potter about with a scrapbook. It really helps you unwind.
Tips for when you make your own scrapbook
The charming thing about scrapbooking is that it doesn't need to be perfect. In fact, scrapbooking is at its best when your creativity is spontaneous, and when you can see that you've done it yourself. There are no rules when it comes to scrapbooking. Instead, it's your imagination that sets the limits. But if you don't know where to begin, here are some guidelines to follow to make the creative process a little easier.
1. Choose a theme for your scrapbook
Choose what you want to fill your scrapbook with, and base everything on that theme. Maybe you want to fill the album with lovely pictures from your baby's first weeks? Or what about photos from holidays, or lots of pictures of your friendship group? Or maybe you'll choose a colour as your theme? Think about which theme you want to follow, and base the next steps on that.
2. Develop your pictures
When you know which theme you want your scrapbook to have, you'd best get going with developing your pictures. Think about what kind of photos you want. Maybe you just want to use square photos, or ones with retro style?
3. Collect together your material
When you know which theme you want, it's time to collect together the non-photo material that you're going to stick in to your scrapbook. What about filling it with lots of travel mementos? In that case, sticking in a plane ticket from your journey is perfect. Or maybe you want to make a romantic scrapbook? In that case, what about some sweet stickers, or maybe a poem?
4. Test before you stick!
Before you start sticking everything in, it can be wise to test laying out everything on the page without gluing it. If you do this, you'll be able to see if you've got enough space, or if you need to cut something to size.
5. Using good materials makes the creative process easier
When it comes to choosing the right materials, there are a few things to keep in mind. Certain tools can make the whole process very easy, such as a good glue, or transparent photo corners, which allow you to easily mount your pictures. Maybe you also need to buy some refill pages? Of course, we've got all that and much more. It's also important to remember to use acid-free material, so that your photos retain their quality in the long-run.
